I graduated from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 1993 and completed core medical training in Hull and Leeds leading to the Postgraduate Diploma (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians, London) in 1996. Subsequently, I was appointed as a British Heart Foundation funded Research Fellow which culminated in an MD awarded with Honours (postgraduate research degree), by the University of Birmingham in 2002. My cardiology training took me to the Northern Deanery (South Tees Hospitals, Middlesbrough and Freeman Hospital, Newcastle) before I was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where I am the clinical lead for the Heart Failure Service, the Department of Echocardiography as well as the Chair for the Aortic Valve Multidisciplinary Team.
I have almost 20 years of experience in all aspects of general cardiology but have a special interest in Heart Failure, Cardiomyopathy, Valve disease, Echo imaging and Cardiac CT. I am an imaging specialist and perform transoesophageal echocardiography, dobutamine stress echocardiography, echoes to guide optimisation of complex pacemakers as well as cardiac CT. I am an empathetic clinician who will work hard to make a diagnosis and manage conditions with the most cost effective strategy based on shared decision making with patient centred care the forefront.
